Lila Fraizer
Lila didn’t know she wanted to be a writer for her first forty years.
She wrote programs for Camp Fire Girls, church women, and church school take home papers. But she never thought to market her work.
After moving to Sacramento, anxious to write about college experiences, Lila discovered many writing classes. She wrote several picture books about her children’s trauma following her divorce.
Lila began teaching writing classes in the Continuing Education Programs through San Juan School District and at American River College. Several writers decided, after attending a writers’ conference, they needed a group for those writing for Christian markets. They took mailing lists from Mount Hermon Christian Writers Conferences and from Lila’s classes and found others writing for Christian markets. Thirty years ago they founded Greater Sacramento Christian Writers Workshop. The name has been shortened and scheduled times and places have changed. Founders Lila, Arlet Vollers, and Marge Marvin are still active, and the group continues to meet weekly.
Writing her memoirs in recent years, Lila discovered she could turn memories into fiction for children. She continues to produce short pieces while marketing her novel for middle-grade readers.
