Clariss Smith
Clariss Smith spent most of her adult life as a missionary in three countries; Okinawa, Mexico, and twelve years in Europe. While in Germany, she interviewed Bible Messengers, the people who told of their experiences after returning from delivering Bibles to the communist world in the 70’s and 80’s. Clariss wrote articles for the mission magazine during that time.
Since 1984, she and her husband of fifty-five years, Dale Smith, have resided in Auburn, CA. Dale and Clariss began East West Fellowship in 1983, a mission to former communist countries. Together, they travel to Europe and continue to minister in Romania and other European countries. Clariss likens East European life to her farm life growing up in North Dakota. She taught in a one-room school one year before moving to California, where she met and married Dale. They have three grown sons and ten grandchildren.
Clariss relates with humor, joy and sadness many untold stories in her book, The Song of Unsung Heroes.
