Beth Miller Self taught elementary school for thirty-two years before retiring and fulfilling her desire to write. Her genre is family legacy books, fiction and short stories.
She took her grandson to hear Geraldine Weiland, the library storyteller. Gerry introduced Beth to Sacramento Christian Writers and encouraged the study of writing books.
Her first book, Dreams Abound, is a memory book that recorded the dreams and life situations of her childhood, and the scripture that spoke to her heart about those dreams.
The second novel, Joy Bells, is based on the missionary journeys of her sister-in-law’s thirty years in Iran serving as a nurse midwife. The sub title is happiness, mirth and love.
The third book, Raising Paul, is the story of raising her brain-injured child.
The Unexpected Life, is about inner healing from family secrets.
A Time to Dance A Time to Mourn is the second book in the Unexpected Life trilogy.
A short story about The Angel Tree is published in Celebrating the Season anthology.
She also ghost wrote a cowboy book for Justin Denton called, Saddle-Up.
The DVD of the seasons of her life was produced by Nicole Carson send2nicole@att.net, 4nicole@comcast.net to help writing members record their stories and leave a memoir for their next generations.
A book, written to celebrate Beth’s husband, Charles’ birthday, is filled with writings and photographs that honor a life lived solely to love God. Shortly after Jesus came for Charles, and took him home.
Three years later Beth was blessed with a second chance at love when Bob Allen Cantrell asked her to marry him. Bob is now writing his legacy book for his children.
Beth writes because the words inside insist on being written. She is kept going through the commitment to Sacramento Christian Writers and Inspire Christian Writers to create pages for the weekly critique groups. She is currently serving her tenth year as leader of SCW.
