Arlet Osnes Vollers
Arlet was born on an Iowa farm into a strong Christian family and began writing from early childhood. Stories and poems about nature and her deep faith became her forte. She was educated at Waldorf College, Lutheran Bible Institute, and Pepperdine University.
She began a forty year teaching career—first in Iowa, then in California where she helped establish a Lutheran day school.
Arlet married William J. Vollers in 1951 and had two daughters, Karin and Peggy. Her interest in writing was renewed in the 1970s by entering a poetry contest and publishing a devotional in The Upper Room.
She joined local and professional writing groups and helped establish Sacramento Christian Writers. She took classes under Ethyl Bangert and Jean Owens; a class under Lila Fraizer in marketing her work was the key to success.
She went on to publish devotionals, non-fiction, and fiction for adults and children. Poetry, though, was always her first love. She published hundreds and won numerous awards. Augsburg Publishing House assigned her to critique manuscripts for their Leaflet Ministry.
After her husband’s retirement and before his death, they traveled and enjoyed their grandchildren and extended relatives. She has self-published one book of poetry with others planned. She considers writing her way of serving the Lord.
